The University of Ljubljana Invites to a Lecture Dedicated to its 100th Anniversary

On Tuesday, 19 November 2019, at 07:00 p.m., the Slovanska (Slavic) Library in Ljubljana will host a lecture by Professor Dr Božo Repe (the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana) dedicated to the rich history of the University of Ljubljana, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

The university was founded in 1919 thanks to the Slovenian national revival. The initiative to establish the university arose as far back as 1848, but the idea came to fruition only after the formation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. At that time, Slovenian politicians took advantage of the situation around the budget adoption by the Provisional National Assembly, and in response to the budget support, they secured funds for the establishment of the university.
