The European Space Agency Invites for Collaboration Students from Slovenian Universities
Slovenia is an associate member of the European Space Agency participating in targeted Earth observation technology development programmes and the Prodex science programme. The country’s membership in ESA also opens up opportunities for students from Slovenia to participate in projects organised by ESA in collaboration with space agencies of the Member States.
Two programmes are currently relevant for students of Slovenian universities:
- 1. REXUS/BEXUS aimed at students of study programmes in natural and technical sciences who have the idea of conducting a scientific or technological experiment with hot-air balloons or rockets. Annually, on the basis of student achievements, the programme involves up to 20 experiments using two hot-air balloons and two rockets. Running of selected projects is free. The application deadline is 14 October 2019.
- 2. HEMERA is a research infrastructure funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, which brings together a large start-up community in tropospheric and stratospheric aerostat research to make existing hot-air balloons available to all groups of scientists in the EU, Canada, and countries partners. The advanced capabilities of HEMERA participants in the field of hot-air balloon systems and operations will provide a simple and efficient service to the scientific community. It involves a wide range of scientific and technical industries, such as astronomy, physics and atmospheric chemistry, climate research, fundamental physics, biology, space research and technology. The application deadline is 15 December 2019.
