The Ballet of the Slovenian National Theatre Performs in St. Petersburg

On Sunday, 15 April 2018, the Ballet of the Slovenian National Theatre (Maribor) performed at the famous Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg as part of the 17th Dance Open Festival. The event was held from 6 to 18 April 2018.

Slovenian artists gave three performances: Walking Mad (choreographer: Johan Inger), Hill Harper’s Dream (choreographer: Edward Clug, the creative managing director of the Maribor Theatre) and Left Right Left Right (choreographer: Aleksandr Ekman).

The Dance Open Festival traditionally takes place in the Alexandrinsky Theatre built in 1832 in the Russian Empire style by the architect Carlo Rossi in honour of Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna.

The programme of the current festival included the performances by such well-known choreographers as Hans van Manen, Jean-Christoph Maillot, Krzysztof Pastor, Alexei Ratmanskiy, David Dawson, Christopher Wheeldon, Sergey Vikharev, Jeroen Verbruggen and Jose Antonio Ruiz.
