Slovenia Actively Opposes the Spread of Coronavirus Relying on the Successful Experience of China and South Korea

Given the successful experience of China in fighting against coronavirus infection, the Slovenian government imposed restrictions on movement in public places from midnight, 20 March 2020.To stop the coronavirus epidemic, the government banned the movement and assembly of people in public places. It also restricted access to public places. The fine for violators is about 400 EUR. The restriction on movement is due to the fact that many citizens of Slovenia did not comply with the quarantine rules and used spring days to spend time outdoors.

However, the government decree provides for exceptions. It does not apply to some industries. It allows the access to workplaces, pharmacies, hospitals and supermarkets. Visiting close relatives is also stated as an exception.

In the coming days, Slovenia will receive the second batch of protective masks – 1.5 million FFB2 type filtering facepiece particles. The first batch of 500 thousand pieces arrived on Thursday, 19 March 2020.According to the STA News Agency, citing the Minister of Economy Zdravko Počivalšek, at the beginning of next week, the country will receive a third batch of even more effective FFP3 type masks in the amount of 1.5 million pieces.

According to the order of the Head of the Civil Protection Service, as part of measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus epidemic, the premises of educational institutions can be used to accommodate employees of strategic sectors of the economy or the national security departments.

It is important to emphasise that strict quarantine and measures to timely inform and isolate the population with the involvement of all competent services and volunteers made it possible to stop the epidemic in China and partially localize it in South Korea. There is every reason to believe that these measures will provide for achievement of positive results in Slovenia.

We wish you good health and balance of mind!
