Slovene Klara Lukan Becomes European Champion in the 5,000-Metres Race Among Juniors

The 18-year-old Slovene Klara Lukan won the 5,000-metre race at the European Athletics U20 Championships in the Swedish city of Borås. Her result was 16 minutes and 3.62 seconds. Thus, she set a new national record among juniors in the age category of up to 20 years.

Klara Lukan is a native of Novo Mesto, a graduate of the Bežigrad Gymnasium and a student of the Chemistry Faculty at the University of Ljubljana. It took her several months to prepare for the competitions. For the past two years, she has been trained by a coach from Ljubljana – Tevž Korent. It should be added that Klara Lukan trains in the same group with Maruša Mišmaš, the Slovenian record holder in the 3,000-metre hurdles.
