Cuisine of Slovenia’s Regions: Chicken in Garlic Sauce

Ingredients (for 4 persons)

  1. chicken breasts,
  2. olive oil,
  3. 1–2 heads of garlic,
  4. 20 mL milk,
  5. 250 mL cream,
  6. 50 g cheese.


Remove bones from chicken breasts. Cut the meat into small pieces. Salt. Fry the meat well in olive oil (two tablespoons) in a deep frying pan. When the meat becomes golden brown, add sliced garlic, and fry everything together. Garlic should not be deep-fried, as it will be very bitter.

Then add milk and a tablespoon of fine flour to the frying pan to thicken the sauce. Also add cream and cheese. Cook for about half an hour so that the chicken bakes well and the sauce is thick and rich.
