The Solkan Bridge erected in 1905 is one of the best examples of bridge construction. Moreover, it is the longest railway bridge in the world. Just imagine that the size of its arched span is 85 metres, and the total length of the bridge is 220 metres!
In 1985, the Solkan Bridge was recognized as an architectural monument of national importance complementing the tourist offer of Nova Gorica and its surroundings. In the dark, it is illuminated by powerful lanterns, which further emphasizes its splendour. The bridge rising above the emerald-green Soča River can often be seen on tourist postcards of Solkan and Nova Gorica.
