Slovakia, also known as the Slovak Republic, brings you natural landscapes, mountains, caves, medieval castles and towns, folk architecture, spas and ski resorts. The country is situated in the middle of Europe and borders Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary and the northern half of Slovakia is taken up by vast mountains.
Slovakia joined the European Union (EU) in 2004 and Slovak economy today is under constant rapid growth giving Slovakia’s education and job environment a very promising future. Slovakia adopted the euro on 1 January 2009, replacing its previous currency, the Slovak koruna.
The capital city is called Bratislava and it’s the political, cultural, and economic centre of Slovakia.
